Brennan’s near cycle powers AA Lakers
MEDICINE HAT, Alberta — Ostyn Brennan came up a single short of the cycle as the Kalispell AA Lakers claimed a 12-7 win in game one of a three-game series with the Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs Tuesday.
Brennan led off the game with a solo home run to left field and added an RBI triple in the second inning. His sixth inning double sparked a four-run frame for the Lakers (24-13). He finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Every Lakers batter picked up a hit, in all Kalispell had 20 hits in the game.
Kaedan Kahler added a pair of RBIs with a 1-for-3 outing. He also crossed the plate three times.
Hunter Fann doubled and drove in a run during the sixth inning, to give Kalispell an 8-4 lead.
Medicine Hat attempted a rally in the seventh inning, scoring three runs in the frame.
On the mound, Luke Nikunen started and went 5 2-3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits. He fanned four.
Carter Schlegel and Brennan finished out the game for Kalispell.
Pryce Velichko led the offense for the Moose Monarchs (4-17-1), going 1-for-1 and driving in a pair of runs.
A complete box score was unavailable for the game.
A second game was scheduled for Tuesday, but that game was not finished as the Lakers led 5-1 at press time.
