No consistency in oversight of stream regulations

As a former government regulator for oil and gas development and nuclear operations for 30 years, I was always taught that while fairness is in the eye of the beholder, consistency was the most important value of good regulatory enforcement.

This is why I am alarmed and disappointed over the July 3 article in the Daily Inter Lake on a proposed ‘Yellowstone Clone” luxury resort in Lakeside. The article states that Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks says that there would be “...environmental impacts to an unnamed tributary to Stoner Creek due to the golf course’s proximity to the creek. With potential negative impacts to the water quality, aquatic species and other wildlife from the use the use of pesticides and fertilizers in the resort.”
