WHITEFISH — Trenton DeRosa’s threw six solid innings and RBI single capped the Glacier Twins’ comeback from a 3-0 deficit in a 5-3 win over the West Plains Cannons 18U at their own Ed Gallo Tournament Friday.

The tournament continued Saturday; the Twins lost to the Webber Wildcats 9-4 early and to the Missoula Impact 18U 15-5 late.

On Thursday, despite three hits from Treyson Murphy, Glacier fell to the Bitterroot Beasts 18U 8-7 when the Beasts’ Bridger Huddleston hit an RBI single to cap a four-run seventh inning.

In Friday’s win the Twins had to bounce back after TJ Widerman’s two-run single put the Cannons (13-21) from Medical Lake, Wash., up 3-0 in the first inning.

Joaquin Gonzalez singled and eventually scored on a passed ball as the Twins moved ahead of the mistake-prone Cannons 4-3 in the sixth. Derosa followed with his RBI single, and then worked around a hit batter and a walk on the bump. He allowed three hits, five walks and no earned runs, fanning six.

The game ended after six innings because of time limits.

Against the Wildcats (30-37) out of Calgary on Saturday, Nolan Amerman went 4-for-4 with a double for the Twins but it wasn’t enough.

The Wildcats had just four hits but had four batters hit by pitch and were issued eight walks.

The Twins (5-22-1) couldn’t overcome seven walks and seven hit batsmen issued in the late game against Missoula Impact; they were also outhit 7-3. Landin Ramsey, Tait Ramsay, Marek Hall, Cole Smith and Henry Wilson all drove in two runs for Missoula (12-11).
