Schlegel’s RBI pushes AA Lakers past Bozeman
Carter Schlegel hit an RBI single in the fifth inning and the Kalispell AA Lakers defense held off the Bozeman AA Bucks for a 1-0 victory Tuesday evening.
Schlegel’s single came after Ostyn Brennan and Cale Brink both singled to put a pair of runners on for Kalispell (31-17 overall, 7-9 in Montana/Alberta AA play). Brennan and Brink finished with two hits apiece to lead the Lakers.
Bozeman loaded the bases in the top of the seventh, but Brennan — on in relief of starter Andre Cephers — struck out Van Shockley to end the game.
Cephers threw 6 1-3 innings for the Lakers, allowing eight hits and striking out six batters. Brennan added 2-3 innings and one strikeout.
Quinn Pershing went the distance for the Bucks (27-16, 10-5), allowing one run on seven hits. He fanned one. Cody Smith and Jacob Snyder each nabbed a pair of hits for Bozeman.
The teams played a second game Tuesday evening, but due to a delayed start that game was not finished by press time. Game three of the series is set for Wednesday at noon.
