Area athletes compete in MLB Pitch, Hit and Run
The Kalispell Lakers hosted an MLB Pitch, Hit & Run contest as part of its Community Night on Friday, with 100 athletes competing in six divisions.
The nationwide program gives boys and girls a chance to showcase their baseball and softball skills in a fun, supportive environment. Based on their scores, they advance from a local event to a Team Championship held in MLB stadiums.
Top scores then qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip for two to compete at the Finals, which is hosted during the World Series.
Local winners were: Softball 7/8U, Olivia Franklin; Softball 11/12U, Elliana Caron; Baseball 7/8U, Kepler Campbell; Baseball 9/10U, Jackson Franklin; Baseball 11/12U,Luke VanOrden; and Baseball 13/14U, Greyson Smith.
