AA Lakers split pair with Helena Senators

Ostyn Brennan combined to go 4-for-7 over two games as the Kalispell AA Lakers split a Friday doubleheader with the Helena Senators.

The Lakers dropped game one 3-1, before taking the night cap 4-3. The teams meet again Saturday at noon for the rubber match. 

Carter Schlegel laid down a squeeze bunt to put Kalispell (36-19 overall, 15-11 in conference) ahead 1-0 in the third inning. 

Helena (44-24, 19-7), tied it at one in the fourth as Aaron Fuzesy singled to right, scoring Carter Perlinski. 

The Senators added two runs on a seventh inning single by Finn Doran. 

Andre Cephers went 6 2-3 innings for the Lakers, allowing four hits and striking out seven batters. 

Tyler Beaver went the distance for the Senators, allowing six hits and fanning eight. 

In game two, Helena put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the first inning thanks to an error and a fielder’s choice. 

Kalispell quickly answered as Brennan came home on an RBI groundout from Schlegel before Hunter Fann drove in Luke Nikunen with double to right field. 

Cale Brink put the Lakers ahead in the second with a bases loaded walk, before Nikunen made it 4-2 with a sacrifice fly. 

Jackson Heino went 5 1-3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He fanned three.
