Range Riders clip Chukars Tuesday

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Logan Beard homered in the first inning, and the Glacier Range Riders kept the Idaho Falls Chukars grounded from there for a 5-3 Pioneer League baseball win Tuesday night.

Beard’s solo home run, his seventh of the season, put the Range Riders up for good. Their lead increased to 3-0 in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Kingston Liniak and Joshua Rego, and to 4-2 in the seventh on Xavier Casserilla’s sacrifice fly. 

In the ninth inning Glacier added an unearned run —  TJ Clarkson reached an error, and pinch-runner Kyle Ashworth scored on Eli Paton’s one-out single — for a 5-3 lead. 

Rayne Supple worked a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out one, to earn his fifth save for the Range Riders. 

On the bump, Grant Taylor (4-5) threw five scoreless innings for Galcier, allowing three hits and four walks. He fanned eight. 

The Chukars got to relievers Nichalas Ferazzi and Luke Cooper for six hits in 13 plate appearances, including Tyler Wyatt’s solo home run in the seventh. Jacob Hasty and Supple finished up.
