WHITEFISH —  Ethan McLean and Ryan Conklin combined on a five-inning one-hitter, Rowan Burow and Rogan Lytle teamed up on a five-hitter and the Kootenai Valley Rangers swept a Legion doubleheader from the Glacier Twins Wednesday, 14-3 and 10-1.

An eight-run second inning erased a 2-1 Twins lead and put the Rangers (2-0) in command of the first game. Calvin Eisenbarth’s two-run double put the visitors up 3-2 in an inning that featured five walks, a two-run single by Rogan Lytle and an RBI base hit from Emmet McKim.

Burow drew two walks — Twins pitchers issued 10 total — and scored four runs in the opener.

McLean started on the hill and went four innings, allowing one hit, four hits and three unearned runs. He struck out four. Conklin threw a 1-2-3 fifth inning and the game ended there under the run rule.

Reed Boyer supplied the lone Twins hit, a two-run single in the first. Dawson Juntunen had the best appearance among three Glacier pitchers, taking over in the fourth inning and retiring all five batters he faced with two strikeouts.

In the second game Burow went six innings on the bump, allowing four hits, five walks and one run. He struck out 10. Lytle worked the seventh, striking out three.

McLean’s two-run double was the big hit in a four-run fifth inning that put the Rangers up 9-0.  Kootenai Valley drew another 11 walks (and two hit batters), and Burow scored three more runs. Tristan Libby drove in two runs; Lytle, McKim and Grady Campbell all scored twice.

Micheal Miller singled and scored on Trenton Derosa’s base hit in the fifth for the Twins (0-4).
