Prosecutors have charged a Kalispell woman accused of punching and kicking her two children with multiple felonies in Flathead County District Court.

Haley Sue Arla Herman, 30, is expected to be arraigned on two counts of assault on a minor before Judge Danni Coffman on June 30. Arrested after the May 31 incident that brought Kalispell Police officers to her North Meridian Road home, she remains in the county jail with bail set at $2,000.

Summoned to the home about 2:34 p.m., officers found Herman's two children, court documents said. The pair, aged 13 and 11, told investigators that Herman had punched and kicked them, according to court documents. One sported an apparent bruise to their forehead.

When officers confronted Herman, she said the two children had acted disrespectfully that day. She allegedly admitted to smacking their arms, but said she never hit or kicked them.

Herman acknowledged being verbally abusive with her children at times, according to court documents.

If convicted, Herman faces up to five years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine.
