Wachholz College Center gallery exhibition honors James Hollensteiner

| June 5, 2025 12:00 AM

The Wachholz College Center’s Wanda Hollensteiner Art Gallery on the campus of Flathead Valley Community College is hosting an exhibition honoring James and Wada Hollensteiner, who had a long history of philanthropy.

The exhibit “The Mountains of Glacier Park: Honoring James and Wanda Hollensteiner” is on display June 9 through Sept. 5. A public opening reception is Monday, June 9 from 5-7 p.m.

The Hollensteiner gallery was incorporated into the design of the Wachholz College Center through the generosity of the late James Hollensteiner in honor of his late wife Wanda, who was a devoted patron of the arts. James died in March and this exhibition will honor not only his wife but also his legacy of philanthropy.

Artwork for the show has been selected by a special guest curator, the gallerist and former FVCC Art History Professor Monica Pastor. Featuring landscapes of Glacier Park, the exhibit includes works from the Glacier Art Museum from its permanent collection kindly lent in honor of the Hollensteiners. Artworks include paintings by notable artists such as Rob Akey, Charlie Russel, Mark Ogle, Ace Powell and Elizabeth Lochrie among others.

Following the opening event, the exhibition will be available for viewing to the public through September 5. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. as well as during WCC showtimes for patrons with tickets to WCC performances.
