Bandits shut down, sweep Twins
CRANBROOK, British Columbia — Nolan Amerman’s two home runs weren’t enough in one game, and a six-run rally didn’t quite set the Glacier Twins for victory in another.
Clark Reimer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, accounting for the go-ahead RBI as the Cranbook Bandits beat Glacier 7-6 in the nightcap of a Class A Legion doubleheader. In the first game the Bandits withstood Amerman’s power display to prevail 8-5.
Bandits 8, Twins 5
Amerman drove in all five Glacier runs in the opener: He had an RBI double in the first inning, a two-run home run in the third and another two-run shot in the seventh.
Unfortunately, the Bandits led 8-3 going to the seventh. Olly Williams and Kye Taggart had RBI singles in a four-run first inning; Reimer, Dallin Rodger and Williams all had RBI singles in the fifth to put Cranbrook up by five.
Pitcher Dawson Juntunen threw all six innings for the Twins, allowing 11 hits, three walks and six earned runs. He struck out two. He also scored twice. Trenton Derosa hit a double.
Bandits 7, Twins 6
The Twins battled back from a 6-0 deficit in the sixth inning with Derosa, Keaton Simpach, Collison Lewis and Connor Magnuson all hitting RBI singles before Derek Juntunen drove in two with yet another base hit.
Cranbook (13-15) made two quick outs in its half of the sixth, then got three straight singles before Reimer was hit by a pitch, forcing Vinny Fiorentino in with became the winning run.
Glacier (1-7) went down in order in the seventh. Magnuson had three hits.
