CRANBROOK, B.C. — The Libby Loggers lost a close game in the opener against the Cranbrook Bandits before being blown out in game two to drop both games of their doubleheader in American Legion baseball Sunday.

Both games offense was hard to come by as Libby collected just three hits in both games, losing 2-0 in game one before Cranbrook erupted for 22 runs in the nightcap.

The Loggers were shutout in both games and fell to 7-18 on the season, currently on a three-game slide.

Aidan Rose took the bump for the Loggers in game one and spun a complete-game gem, allowing just three hits and two earned runs across six innings. The Bandits plated two runs in the first on a sacrifice fly and Kyle Taggart’s double before Rose shut them down over the final five frames.

Ty Dupley started opposite Rose for the Bandits (16-15), allowing three hits, and striking out 11 before being removed for the final out of the game, lasting 6 2-3 innings. Michael Clark earned the save, striking out Cody Todd with the tying run on base to end the game.

Rose collected one of the Loggers three hits, a double in the third inning with two outs. Tanner Rose and Bransen Holzer collected the other two hits, both singles.

Michael Clark hit a 2-run home run in the first inning, and the Bandits plated 20 more runs over the final three frames to complete the doubleheader sweep in game two.

Clark added a double later and finished with three hits, four RBIs and four runs scored. Not to be outdone, Kyle Taggart matched Clark with four RBIs, reached base four times and scored twice.

Rose collected another double in game two, Noah Gillespie and Brody Gilmore each added singles. Six different Loggers pitchers combined to walk 11, gave up 20 earned runs and struck out none across four innings as the game was called early due to the run rule
