RONAN —  Joaquin Gonzalez, Ryder Conley and West Amerman drove in three runs each, and a six-run inning blew the game open as the Glacier Twins beat the Ronan 18U South Valley Screwballs in baseball Wednesday night.

The win salvaged a doubleheader split, with Ronan winning the opener 6-5.

The late game was tied 5-5 when the Twins (2-10) scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning, all with two out. Conley hit a two-run single and Amerman’s bases-loaded base hit brought home three runs for a 10-5 lead. Collison Lewis followed with an RBI double.

The gap grew to 12-5 when Kiernan RK was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and 14-5 on Dawson Juntunen’s RBI double.

Gonzalez also had an RBI double and he and Juntunen scored three times each. Gonzalez started on the hill, going four innings with three hits, seven walks and four earned runs allowed. He fanned four.

The Twins outhit the Screwballs 9-3 in the early game but the hosts took advantage of 10 walks issued — including a bases-loaded free pass that scored Baylan Hess for a 6-4 Ronan lead in the sixth.

Glacier threatened in the seventh: Amerman doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Trenton Derosa’s sacrifice fly. Lewis followed with a single and stole second to put the tying run in scoring position before Ronan’s Hunter Luedtke retired the next two batters to end it.

Hess scored three runs for Ronan (3-1); Luedtke drew three walks and scored twice, and Liam Wills hit an RBI triple and scored.

Conley hit two doubles. Gonzalez had one double among two hits. Lewis also had two hits.
