AA Lakers drop to 0-2 at Palouse
PULLMAN, Wash. — For a second straight game at the WSU Palouse Summer Series the Kalispell AA Lakers managed just four hits, this time in a 7-2 loss to Moundtime 18U McGraw on Friday.
Cale Brink’s bases-loaded walk, plus a passed ball that scored Wyatt Asher, accounted for the Lakers’ runs, both in the bottom of the sixth inning.
By then Kalispell (21-10) trailed 7-0. McGraw (5-5), out of Hillsboro, Ore., used a single, two walks, a safety bunt and a pair of two-run singles to score five runs in the fourth.
That was enough for pitchers Isaac Pfeifer, who threw five shutout innings, and Lucas Gardner.
Andre Cephers started on the bump for Kalispell, allowing six hits, five walks and six earned runs in four innings. He fanned five.
The Lakers have two games Saturday, against Dudes-National of Redmond, Wash., and Baden Premier 18U out of Seattle. The latter game has a scheduled 10 p.m. start.
