Law roundup: Report of stuck person leads to mischievous juveniles
After getting a mysterious phone call from a person reporting to be stuck inside a trunk, a resident alerted the Kalispell Police Department. They said it was a woman's voice, and on the younger side, on the other end of the phone and the caller simply described the situation before hanging up. The resident warned that it might be a prank as she received an earlier call from the same number. In that conversation, the caller was asking about other things. After a bit of sleuthing, officers gave several minors a talking-to about their behavior.
A passerby reported finding a fire hydrant knocked over.
Heading to the ATM, a motorist found a man sleeping in the drive-thru. Officers let the slumbering man know he needed to find a better spot to doze off.
Looking across the street, a resident spotted two people apparently setting up a campsite. Authorities were unable to track the couple down and the resident agreed to call back if the pair turned back up.
Officers moved along a man after he made a scene by jumping up and down and screaming.
After a vehicle with out-of-state plates was left in a parking lot for several hours, a member of the property's security team inquired about having it towed.
A group of teenage girls apparently pelted a man's truck with cans and other objects. The person describing the incident could not determine a reason for the volley of junk sent their way. The truck, though, apparently survived the run-in unscathed.
Officers spoke with a woman who was caught tossing her dog off a bridge and into a river after receiving a phone call from a concerned witness. The woman said she was playing with the pet and that both she and the dog had leapt from the span previously. Officers encouraged her to find other ways to play with her dog. For what it's worth, the animal was described as happy and healthy.
A resident asked for extra patrols in her neighborhood after she and her husband returned from a trip out of town to learn that a woman walked through their property. She said the trespassing woman was caught on her security camera, which showed the mystery woman walk into the backyard, exit through the back gate and then came around to the front again. Nothing was missing from the property.
