A Lakers drop opener at Palouse Summer Series
LEWISTON, Idaho — Cade Cameron went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs as the Lewis and Clark Cubs defeated the Kalispell A Lakers Thursday at the Palouse Summer Series.
The Lakers (22-18) held a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth after an error, a ground out and a walk each brought in a run.
The Cubs took control in the sixth as Cameron hit an RBI double that capped off a five-run frame that made it 7-3.
Next inning, Slater Kuther hit a two-run single to spark another big inning. This time six Lewis and Clark (17-4) runners crossed the plate, extending the advantage to 13-3.
George Schwan started on the mound for the Lakers and went 5 1-3 innings, scattering seven hits and striking out one.
Grady Peterson went 4 1-3 innings for Lewis and Clark, allowing three runs on two hits. He fanned one. Jackson Casey and Karston Eilers combined for 2 2-3 no-hit innings in relief.
Max Schara and Carter Wiggington picked up the lone hits for the Lakers.
The Lakers are back on the field Friday for two games. The first is a 9 a.m. first pitch against the Renton Rebels and the second is a 7 p.m. start taking on Merchants Baseball Club.
