When Andy and Kailey Armor opened Compass Chiropractic, they selected the name for its wayfinding aspect hoping to help patients learn more about their bodies and minds through a journey of healing.

“We had two big things that we wanted to be cognizant of, educating people to find their right path with whatever type of health care they’re going for and also directional flow,” Andy said.

Seven years later, the demand for the system-oriented chiropractic practice has grown, leading to the recent opening of an extension practice space downtown Kalispell in February, continuing their focus on tonal techniques and the nervous system.

“It’s a lot more neurologically focused and nervous system focused,” Andy Armor said, sitting in the new studio at the end of February.  “We’re diving deeper into neurological pattern and expression rather than just finding mechanical pain.”

Tonal chiropractic is a technique that seeks to correct tone or tension of the nervous system by gently and manually manipulating the spine to restore optimal nervous system function.

Since the brain controls every part of the body by sending information through nerve communication pathways, stress from life can compromise the ability to sleep, heal and more. The technique aims to get someone feeling better holistically.

“How we raise the person's ability to adapt to stress is our major focus,” Andy said.

Compass, although taking a specialized different approach to chiropractic services, still boasts classic chiropractic techniques — including evaluating X-rays.

The son of a chiropractor, Andy is originally from Pennsylvania. From a young age, he said, he saw the positive influence the practice had on people’s lives.

He met his wife and business partner, Kailey, while at graduate school at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa — the first school of chiropractic in the world, which was established in 1897.  Kailey, an Alberta native, frequented the Flathead Valley throughout her life, specifically visiting Whitefish.

After the pair graduated in 2017, rather than going back to Andy’s home on the East Coast, they moved to Whitefish and worked for another practice until beginning Compass Chiropractic in 2018. At the time, they already had a waiting list for patients.

The Armors landed on the name Compass Chiropractic for its wayfinding aspect, hoping that customers learn more about their bodies, minds and healing journey.

“We had two big things that we wanted to be cognizant of, educating people to find their right path with whatever type of health care they’re going for and also directional flow,” he said.

The new practice location has a few tables, a children’s toy corner, office space and multiple adjustment tables. With couches, natural light and an exposed brick wall, the space is friendly and calming. Over the years, patients have expressed how nice it would be to have a Compass Chiropractic location in Kalispell, so the location has already been utilized.

Kailey is certified to provide chiropractic care for pregnant women and babies. Andy focuses on system regulations to target things like sleep and anxiety issues.

“We see people get back to living their lives... but more importantly, so they can do what they want to do,” Andy said.

Moving forward, the Armors anticipate the space and business to continue to grow.

“There are less invasive options that can be utilized to make big changes,” he said. “What we do isn’t about us, it’s about bringing the power back to the person.”

Compass Chiropractic won best chiropractor in the Best of Whitefish 2024 competition. It won second best chiropractor in the Inter Lake’s Best of Flathead 2024. Compass was also awarded Best Business in 2025 by the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce.

The new location is located at 208 1st Ave. E in Kalispell. The original location can be found at 704 13th St. E in Whitefish. To learn more, visit compasschirowf.com.
