Law roundup: Resident has a bone to pick with dog
A man had a bone to pick with a dog that allegedly escaped through a broken fence, and parked itself in his yard, where it barked for more than an hour. The man complained that he felt powerless to deal with these doggone issues because the Whitefish Police Department does not have animal control. A dispatcher suggested he open the gate and the dog might walk home. The man said he was 78 and would not be going “near that dog.”
A woman reportedly upset with a court case called the police saying she didn’t know what to do with herself and had nowhere to stay. When officers offered her a ride to the hospital or other services she might need, she declined, saying she wanted to sit on the sidewalk and scream. Officers said it was fine to sit on the sidewalk, but if she entered the road she would be arrested.
Someone asked officers to check on the welfare of an elderly man they thought looked confused and was reportedly walking in circles in a parking lot. The man was OK and was waiting for a bus.
