Law roundup: Donkey goes for an evening stroll
A friendly miniature donkey reportedly went for an evening jaunt when it was spotted running in the middle of the street by someone who called the Kalispell Police Department, saying it was following their car. Officers escorted the donkey to the fairgrounds and it was reunited with its owner who walked it back home.
A gas pump was shut off when gasoline reportedly started leaking out of a truck’s tank, spilling into the street. The driver told an officer they were unsure if the tank failed or a hole had been drilled in it, which officers have received reports of.
Officers and firefighters responded to a structure fire in an apartment building on Liberty Street when a tenant saw black smoke coming from a neighbor’s front door and window Saturday evening. People in the building were evacuated and the fire, which started in the kitchen, was extinguished.
A car reportedly parked in a man’s assigned spot and the owner swore at him, threatening to beat him up. The man took a photo of the license plate per his property manager’s instructions. Despite an officer telling him a police report would not be done unless he wanted to press charges, he maintained that the property manager was adamant about having a police report. An officer instructed him that the police do not work for the property management company.
A naked man wearing a stocking cap was allegedly seen sitting under the bypass bridge. He was dressed and moving along when officers arrived.
A man in his 50s was reportedly acting strangely and relieved himself in a parking lot before leaving in a silver Toyota Sequoia.
Four times was reportedly the limit for a man to walk around a block before a resident called officers. They said the man looked to be in his 20s and was wearing all black, including his fanny pack.
A parent allegedly didn’t want to report her teenage daughter as a runaway but wanted to know “about her liability” if she “drinks and drives and gets into an accident,” for example.
A woman walking through a park reportedly heard a female yelling for help and saw a male in a window. Officers checked multiple apartments and no one reported hearing anything.
A woman allegedly dialed 911 on accident while cooking.
A later call came in about two men heard arguing by a park. Officers made contact with one man who said he was arguing with a friend who had left.
Officers were asked to check on a woman’s welfare when she started passing out.
