Student involvement

You seniors of Whitefish High School who have participated in the city‘s Whitefish Vision 2045 Community Growth Plan are to be wholeheartedly congratulated.

Why? Indeed, many of you will remain living here or return to Whitefish someday and your input now is invaluable to the city’s future growth plan, as we all envision what our city will look like and be 20 years in the future. We continue to need and embrace your vision for our future and welcome you to come to our monthly work sessions on the plan and sign up for our newsletters at engagewhitefish.com.

We ask that any of you reach out to your fellow students and ask them to become involved as well. Honestly, some of us who are current residents and volunteers on the board won’t be here in 20 years but you may be! What the city is going to look like as well as managing its growth will be up to you, each of you.

Any City Council or Community Development Board meeting is open to the public and comment is encouraged. Encourage your parents and friends to get involved in the plan development as well. Again, thank you!

— Phil Boland, Whitefish

Appalling behavior

An open letter to Senator Tim Sheehy and Rep. Ryan Zinke: As your constituent, I implore to you take a stand for the rule of law in our country.

The many instances of the current administration blatantly ignoring judicial orders and their other acts that defy laws (rights to privacy, etc.) are an ominous sign of contempt for our cherished democracy; they are eerily similar to what happened in Germany during the years before World War II.

If you, and others in positions of responsibility in government, do not resist these attempts to establish a de facto dictatorship, I fear what is in store for all of us. The oath you took as a member of the military required to defend the Constitution, not a person serving in government.

As a life-time Republican voter, I am appalled at the behavior of the current administration and those who follow in lock-step to the obvious attempts to subvert democracy.
