Polson erupts for 17 runs in win over Troy
POLSON — Cole Wadsworth doubled twice, added a triple and drove in four runs as the Polson Pirates cruised to a 17-4 victory over the Troy Trojans in high school baseball Saturday afternoon.
Brayson DuMont earned the win for Polson (9-4), going 3 1-3 innings, allowing four earned runs on just two hits, striking out three. He added three hits at the plate with an RBI and a run scored out of the leadoff spot. Paxson DuMont went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Noah Agliano and Landon Pablo came in for relief of DuMont, not allowing a hit over the final 1 2-3 frames. The Pirates played a clean game defensively, not allowing an error while the Trojans committed five.
Henry Roy Jr. singled in two runs in the bottom of the first inning to give the Trojans (4-4) the lead. Polson tied it in the top of the second inning and added 15 runs over the final two frames to pull away.
Big Sky 9, Bigfork 6
BIGFORK — Ethan Paugh collected two hits and drove in three runs for the Missoula Big Sky Eagles in a back-and-forth game where the Eagles took the lead for good in the fifth inning and added two more in the seventh to down Bigfork.
Rowan Miculka picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles (8-5), pitching the final two frames and working around two hits and three walks. Madden Hensel started, allowing two hits and struck out three but was pulled after 1 2-3 innings.
Cavin Wiest led Bigfork (9-4) with a double and two RBIs out of the nine spot. Sam Plummer started the game for the Vikings, recording two outs and one earned run before being relieved by Mason Lewis who pitched the next 4 1-3 innings. Plummer added two hits and two runs at the dish. Wyatt Hickey led the team with three hits.
