Law roundup: Man clocked by stranger in ski mask
A man was reportedly left bleeding from the head in a fast-food restaurant’s parking lot after a stranger wearing a ski mask hit him on the back of the head with a metal object and took off on a bike. The masked man, who was also wearing a red and black flannel shirt, blue pants and a black hat, was sighted by skateboarders at Woodland Park, however, officers were unable to locate him.
An officer allegedly detained and released a teen driving a silver truck when he “rolled coal” in front of the police car and the black-gray clouds of exhaust blew into an open window, obstructing the officer’s ability to monitor traffic and enforce the law during a car cruise on Main Street. The officer notified the teen’s parents about the incident.
A possible 18-year-old driving an older red Chevy reportedly yelled at someone partaking in a car cruise. When the person pulled over at the mall to apologize, the teen allegedly punched their car mirror, shattering it. Officers spoke with both parties, who wanted to settle the matter themselves.
A passerby reportedly had the misfortune of seeing a shirtless and sunburned man’s exposed buttocks and told officers that the man, who frequented the location, wore beige shorts when they were pulled up.
A man reportedly spotted a stranger in a green winter coat trying to steal a grill in their neighbor’s backyard. The stranger fled when he yelled at them.
Officers received two calls from people concerned about seven animals in an RV after the owner was admitted to the hospital. A man reportedly told officers the animals escaped through the windows. Officers set a live trap for about five cats and told the owner they would keep her RV keys to check the trap. A chihuahua and a pit bull were taken to a local boarding kennel for cats and dogs.
A man reportedly posing as an underage girl on the social media app Snapchat printed a picture of a concerned parent’s teenage child and was sending them explicit photos.
A driver allegedly saw a child around 4 or 5, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, jumping around and sitting on someone’s lap in the back seat of a gold Toyota Camry. They called the police, concerned about the child’s safety.
A blonde woman in her 60s was reportedly wandering around a neighborhood and approaching children, according to a resident who worried about her “weird and creepy behavior.”
A pedestrian was spooked after hearing footsteps when they arrived at the Rails to Trails bike path off South Meridian Road, then noticed a stashed bicycle and saw someone pulling an object out of their jacket pocket that looked like a bat or mallet.
