A Lakers drop doublehead to Helena Reps
HELENA — The Kalispell A Lakers took a 2-1 lead after the first inning on Liam Rech’s 2-run home run before the Bozeman Bucks shut down their offense the rest of the way for a 7-2 victory in American Legion baseball Saturday.
Rech finished with two of the Lakers (2-6-1) four hits and the only extra-base hit of the game. Beau Schultz and Miles Arrowsmith added singles. Arrowsmith took the loss on the bump after lasting three innings.
Wyatt Ford drove in three runs for the Bucks (7-1) as they capitalized on 11 walks. Harvey Kimmel and Graysen Trenka scored two runs each and Gabe Strodahl earned the win after 3 1-3 innings allowing three hits and both earned runs.
Reps 3, A Lakers 2
Kalispell became the road team for game two and lost a heartbreaker to the Helena Reps as they scored a run each in the seventh and eighth innings for a walk off win.
Heading into the bottom of the seventh with a 2-1 lead, Evan Duvall hit a two out RBI single to tie the game and send it into extras. A leadoff walk started the final frame for the Reps (3-5) and the next batter Brayden Spurzem tripled home the run for the win.
Max Schara had a strong start for the Lakers, going five innings with one earned run and striking out six. Beau McEwen doubled and drove in both runs and pitched one inning allowing one run. Miles Arrowsmith picked up three hits and scored a run.
