Troy drops B/C softball opener
GLASGOW — Troy’s first State B/C tournament game didn’t go swimmingly.
Getting a home run from Bryn Grossman along with 10 walks issued by Troy pitching, the Manhattan Tigers beat Troy 15-0 in a first-round game Thursday.
In the other first-round games, Florence beat host Glasgow 17-3, Mission-Arlee-Charlo beat Huntley Project 6-5 and unbeaten Shepherd handled Thompson Falls-Noxon 16-0.
The tournament had to move sites to a Cal Ripken field because rain made the original venue unplayable.
Manhattan 15, Troy 0
Camdyn Holgate doubled and drove in three runs for the Tigers, who will play MAC at 10 a.m. Friday. The game lasted just three innings; Morgan Pavlik allowed four hits and fanned six in the circle for Manhattan.
Troy got hits from Addy Fisher, Kirsti Jellesed, Tana Grant and Kylie Cole. The Lady Trojans have a loser-out game with Glasgow on Friday.
