Wink drives in 4, A Lakers bounce back on Libby
Dillon Wink had three hits, including a two-run single that ended the game under the mercy rule, and drove in four runs in the Kalispell A Lakers’ 13-3 win over Libby in Legion baseball Thursday at Griffin Field.
Wink’s third base hit of the night capped a 7-run fifth inning for the Lakers, who improved to 10-9 and avenged an 8-1 loss to the Loggers (5-13) in Libby on Wednesday.
Wink, Tait Orme, Jake Hale and Ethan Kim all scored twice for Kalispell, which took advantage of 12 walks and five hit batters by Libby pitching.
Libby led 3-0 on RBI singles by Boe Miles and Ian Thom along with Brody Gilmore’s run-scoring groundout in the first inning, but left the bases loaded in the frame and didn’t score again.
The Lakers left the bases loaded in their half of the first, but got a two-run single from Wink and an RBI knock from Orme in the second to tie it up.
Kim’s squeeze bunt brought home George Schwan in the third inning, and Kalispell had the lead for good.
Six walks — one intentional — and a hit batter fueled the Lakers’ fifth inning. Schwan had a sacrifice fly in the frame; Wink actually had both Kalispell hits in the inning, with the latter ending the game.
Miles Arrowsmith and Max Schare split the pitching. Schara allowed two hits, two walks and no runs after coming in with one out in the third. He fanned four Loggers.
Thom had two hits for Libby.
