FVCC welcomes StoryCorps to Kalispell at June 2 event
Flathead Valley Community College and StoryCorps are holding an event on June 2 for the launch of the StoryCorps Mobile Booth recording trailer’s month-long visit to the Flathead Valley.
The event is in the Swank Recital Hall at Wachholz College Center, on the campus of FVCC, beginning at 12:45 p.m. It will feature several brief speakers representing StoryCorps, Montana Public Radio and FVCC, as well as an opportunity to hear from a local participant.
Attendees will also have time for questions and answers and a chance to tour the StoryCorps Mobile Booth recording trailer. This event is free and open to the public. StoryCorp’s month-long visit to the Flathead Valley begins May 30 and runs through June 26, recording and sharing the stories of local residents. Select stories may be broadcast on MTPR, archived at the Library of Congress and shared nationally by StoryCorps.
Residents can reserve a 40-minute recording session by visiting mtpr.org, calling StoryCorps’ 24-hour toll-free reservation line at 1-800-850-4406 or visiting storycorps.org.
To conclude the visit, StoryCorps will host a public listening event on Monday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wachholz College Center to showcase selected stories recorded during the Flathead Valley sessions. Admission is free and open to the public. All interview participants, their guests and the broader community are invited to attend this celebration of storytelling and connection.
