Letters to the editor Nov. 27
Independent health care
An article in the Nov. 17 issue of the Daily Inter Lake welcomes Dr. Anna Knisely to our community as the hospital’s first otolaryngologist. I welcome her and wish her all the best.
However, I would like to clarify that our hospital has had continuous otolaryngology care through Glacier Ear Nose and Throat since 1973 when Dr. Wilson Higgs started his practice. I joined Dr. Higgs in 1983 and practiced through 2020.
Glacier Ear Nose and Throat has four board certified otolaryngologists, three doctors of audiology and one masters of audiology. Together they provide the full spectrum of care in our specialty including general otolaryngology, pediatric otolaryngology, treatment of head and neck cancer, facial and head and neck trauma, allergy care, otology (fellowship trained), audiology, rhinology and skull base surgery (fellowship trained), and sleep medicine.
Glacier Ear Nose and Throat is owned by the physicians, not by the hospital. During my time in practice, the hospital has attempted to purchase Glacier Ear Nose and Throat several times, but the group has resisted this pressure in order to be able to put patients first and provide the highest quality of care.
