Law roundup: Woman takes issue with standing passengers
A concerned woman called the Kalispell Police Department alleging kids had to stand in a 15-passenger van leaving a school because there weren’t enough seats. An officer advised her that if all seats were taken on a “vehicle considered a bus” that an individual may stand. She said she was going to “spread the information” online and try to get “the law changed for children’s safety.”
Someone wanted officers to remove a woman in a vehicle from the parking lot, alleging she didn’t live there and knew she didn’t because they had “lived there for a year.” The caller then requested extra patrols.
An Uber driver called police, saying he thought he picked up “an illegal” and dropped him off at the train station because the customer “jumped out of a semi-truck."
A manager wanted a man in his 60s with a pushcart removed from the property because he allegedly had a history of harassing customers.
Someone called the police after almost hitting a silver vehicle that allegedly stopped at a green light. A man got out of the passenger side and started punching the window and headlights of their vehicle while yelling and swearing, the caller said. The woman driving the silver vehicle, meanwhile, alleged the other motorist was tailgating and leaning on the horn, so she stopped, thinking something was wrong. The man said he got out and took photos of the other driver and vehicle.
A girl’s black bicycle was reportedly stolen by a man in his 30s who was spotted on Treeline Road. The bike had a green water bottle holder.
A man alleged his phone was stolen and had tracked it to a property where he waited down the road for officers to arrive. A man told an officer he found the phone in a casino parking lot and returned it.
