SIDNEY — The Billings Central boys came close to catching Corvallis as a team Saturday. The Rams’ Colin Jensen chased everyone down.

Jensen fired a 66 on Saturday, including a bogey on 18, and claimed boys medalist honors by three strokes over teammate Caleb Fornshell at the State A golf tournament.

Sidney Country Club surrendered two sub-70 rounds in two days: Polson’s Max Milton had a 69 to lead by three strokes on Friday.

Jensen was sitting in a tie for sixth at 75 coming into Saturday but came out with two birdies on the front nine and five more on the back.

By the end the Rams fell short of Corvallis by two strokes, 614-616. Polson, with Milton tying the Blue Devils’ Brady Powell for third at 1-over 145, claimed the third-place trophy.

Corvallis, third a year ago, won its first-ever golf championship.

Billings Central did win the girls team crown, by 46 strokes.

Cash Brown gave the Pirates a second All-State golfer, finishing eighth. The top 15 plus ties earn All-State honors.

Ronan had two All-State finishers in Oliver Rowe (sixth at 149) and Kolby Finley.

Carson Emerson (166, tied for 20th) and Soren Lund (175, 40th) scored for Polson as well.

Billings Central put four girls in the top 11 and won its 12th title — and second straight — with a score of 687. Whitefish came in at 733. Dillon was a distant third at 762.

Livingston’s Anna Lende shot her second straight 77 to easily claim girls medalist honors. Billings Central’s Jordan Nielsen (162) and Berkley Park (163) finished second and third, followed by Whitefish’s Karlee Brown (164).

Brown and Ryhlee Scott, who shot 91 to finish 13th on Saturday, were both All-State for the Bulldogs.

Bigfork’s Keegan Campbell finished 15th to also claim All-State honors.
