Law roundup: Why did the mattress cross the road?

A mattress left partially in the road reportedly posed a traffic hazard. Just how it got there remained unexplained.

A man rebuffed by a woman allegedly followed her in a gray Toyota Tacoma all the way to the Kalispell Police Department.

A heavily intoxicated woman was spotted trespassing at a location where she had locked herself in the lobby bathroom.

A dog in the back of a green Ford F-250 appeared very cold and wet to a passerby, who told officers the canine was “on a bunch of trash and metal” and had nowhere to walk around. The caller said the dog had been there for at least an hour and they had not seen the owners in that time.

A package was reported stolen by a resident who said they received a delivery notice, but no pictures to confirm it was indeed dropped off at the address.

A woman called officers, unsure if her belongings were stolen or misplaced by an organization that reportedly listed the items, which had been held in a storage unit with more than 500 other items, as ready for pick up. Officers were advised by the organization’s director that she signed an agreement to pick up the items at a specific time and that anything left was donated to charity.

A dog, possibly three, had been left outside barking for two days.

Officers reportedly stopped a pedestrian to advise her about a park’s opening and closing hours as well as her misdemeanor warrant.

A man reportedly answered dispatch’s callback on a 911 hangup and said he thought he “got it all figured out” while a young male’s or female’s frustrated voice could be heard in the background.

A tip line worker passed along an anonymous request for officers to check on the welfare of someone who was reportedly being assaulted by an ex. Officers went to the location and heard arguing, which stopped when they knocked. Officers waited at the location for 30 minutes to see if the situation had changed inside the residence or if someone would leave and then issued a “be on the lookout” directive.

Someone was concerned that the hazard lights of an older truck, broken down on an off-ramp and partially blocking the roadway, weren’t bright enough to alert other vehicles to its presence, saying a man was sitting inside. A tow truck was on the scene when officers arrived.
