Lauren Bissen 2nd at Mountain West meet
MISSOULA — Glacier junior Lauren Bissen, running slightly above her personal record, finished second among the girls at the Mountain West Classic cross county meet held Saturday at the University of Montana golf course.
Bissen covered the 5,000 meters in 18 minutes, 7.62 seconds. Addison Kegel, Billings Central’s standout freshman, won in 17:33.03.
Bozeman’s Phoebe Maixner (18:33.00) was third, followed by Glacier freshman Ada Thiel (18:43.92) and Polson junior Morgan Delaney (18:47.95). Libby sophomore Capri Farmer was 10th at 19:12.64, a PR.
Flathead sophomore Everett Holland was 16th, running 19:29.15.
Bozeman won the team title with 67 points, well ahead of Gallatin at 163. Glacier (277) was sixth. The Hawks came close to a sweep: Mead, Washington won the boys title over Bozeman by one point, 110-111.
The Hawks’ Miles Halverson (15:17.20) and Taylor Neil finished 1-2 in the boys race.
Glacier senior Owen Thiel (15:56.87) was 13th, just ahead of Polson senior David DiGiallonardo (15:57.42).
The Pack finished seventh in the meet, which drew 78 boys teams.
Flathead sophomore Carson Thorne took 30th at 16:30.92.
