Work resumes this week on U.S. 2 between Rose Crossing and Glacier Park International Airport

| September 23, 2025 12:00 AM

The Montana Department of Transportation and LHC Inc. are resuming work on the U.S. 2 Rose Crossing to Glacier Park International Airport project with crews expected to begin applying final epoxy paint markings to the area later in the week.

This work is anticipated to take about a week to complete, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting. When work begins, motorists should expect single-lane closures, reduced speed limits, possible delays, slow moving vehicles and wet paint present in the project area.

“This is the last work that will take place on this project this year,” said Ryan Paulsen, engineering project manager for the state Transportation Department. “Work to smooth some of the pavement via bump grinding has been pushed to the 2026 construction season.”

Completed improvements include removing and replacing the pavement; adding a chip seal; crack sealing the roadway shoulders and median lane; adding a fog seal; upgrading existing curb ramps at the Rose Crossing intersection; resurfacing the Motor Carrier Services weigh station; completing electrical upgrades at the Birch Grove Road and Rose Crossing intersections; adding shoulder rumble strips, signage and roadside delineators; and adding Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades at the intersection with Rose Crossing.
