Letters to the editor Sept. 25
Hunter puts constituents first
Ryan Hunter will make an outstanding mayor for the city of Kalispell due to his tireless dedication to our community that he has exhibited during his time as our city councilor representing Ward 3.
Specifically, his stance on growth management, land conservation, affordable housing and compassionate social policies proves that he always has his constituents’ best interests at heart. His support for more compact development is a natural complement to his work to conserve the character of this valley that we all hold so dear.
I think it is beneficial for our community leaders to have skills and experience specifically oriented toward the positions in which they serve. Ryan’s first-hand experience working for the Flathead Land Trust and his degree in urban planning make him uniquely qualified to make smart choices in the growth of our city. As a former planning board member, I understand the importance of considering the needs of all members of our community.
I strongly support Ryan Hunter for mayor of Kalispell.

Political opinions
I appreciate the David Myerowitz’ reminder that he is an M.D., as he advised in his Sept. 9, letter. It caused me to recall his letter published in the Feb. 5, 2024, edition of the Inter Lake, wherein he expressed his medical view on the issue of abortion. In that writing Dr. Myerowitz’ medical position on abortion is one which, in his words, all “rational people” should accept. He will no doubt be surprised to learn the I whole-heartedly agree with his medical position on abortion – 100%.
So, I’m more than happy to address Myerowitz as “Dr.” in medical matters. However, to refer to him as “Dr.” in response to letters pertaining to politics, government, and such, could insinuate his medical education has provided him superior knowledge in those matters as well. Readers could thereby be misled to believe that “Dr.” Myerowitz’ political views should be given more credence than might be warranted. Therefore, I think I’ll pass on Myerowitz’ demand for me (and apparently me alone) to address him as “Dr.” in response to political letters
I also agree with Mr. Myerowitz’ point that we all can’t be geniuses. I recognized my own intellectual shortcomings in grade school when I discovered that virtually every girl in my class seemed a lot smarter than me. Therefore, I’m not offended by anyone questioning the rationality of my thinking. Oh, that reminds me of Dr. Myerowitz’ February 2024 letter setting forth the abortion guidelines “all rational people” should accept.
I doubt that many might have saved that paper to now see Dr. Myerowitz’ medical position on abortion, but not to worry. The verbatim publication of his medical stance can be viewed online at Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 at 164-5 (1973). Readers might note that Dr. Myerowitz’ medical position on abortion will belie Mr. Myerowitz’ allegation, in that very same letter, that Democrats want abortion to be a legal right “at any stage” of a pregnancy.
