HAMILTON — Corvallis had the best boy golfer and won the boys title Friday; Hamilton had the girls medalist and the best girls team.

Brady Powell of Corvallis shot 69 to win boys medalist honors Friday, while leading a 1-2-4 Blue Devil finish with Tag Jessop and Dylan Wirt at the Western A Divisional tournament at Hamilton Golf Club. The trio helped Corvallis shoot 8-over 296, winning the one-day event by 27 strokes.

Frenchtown was second at 323; Polson (329) and Dillon (331) rounded out the top four, with Whitefish one stroke behind the Beavers.

The top four teams advance to next week’s State A tournament in Sidney, along with the next eight individuals (plus ties) that aren’t on a state-qualified squad.

Aiden Rickels, who tied for seventh with a 79, is one of three Whitefish boys to qualify individually along with Finn Hobart and Colby Minton.

On the girls side, Burnett’s 76 gave the Bronc golfer medalist honors by seven strokes over Ryhlee Scott of Whitefish, who was alone in second at 83.

A pair of Dillon golfers, Skylar LaPierre and Briley Alberi, were third and fourth.

Whitefish’s Caroline Owens and Karlee Brown were sixth and seventh, and teammate Ava Zignego was tied for 12th.

The Bulldogs finished second by five strokes to Hamilton, 372-377. Dillon was third at 386, and Frenchtown was a distant fourth.

Polson’s Olivia Cottet (101) and Bigfork’s Keegan Kampbell and Jocelyn Holton earned individual spots to state.
