Law roundup: Police sicced on skateboarding neighbor
The sound of a neighbor's skateboard on the pavement left a resident so irritated that he contacted the Kalispell Police Department hoping officers could put an end to the racket. He said the neighbor was "constantly skateboarding in his driveway and making unnecessary noise." But the neighbor accused him of harassment and skateboarded around for a bit to demonstrate to officers how little noise it made. Investigators agreed that the skateboard did not make much of a commotion, but said they needed to confer with the city attorney to see whether it violated Kalispell's ordinances.
The coroner was called to Depot Park after a passerby spotted a body on the grass.
Dispatchers tried to help a caller worried about a cat lounging up in a tree, sending the information along to the Kalispell Fire Department. The caller said the cat had been roosting in the tree for several days. When the Fire Department said it was unable to help with the cat, the dispatcher recommended leaving a can of tuna or cat food beneath the tree.
As several days had passed since their wife had left to do laundry and not returned, a spouse decided to alert the authorities. The two had last spoken using an app about 14 hours prior, the spouse said. They called back about half an hour later saying they had gotten back in touch with their wife and no longer needed assistance.
After dealing with a man seemingly under the influence of one drug or another wandering around a church, a member of the congregation headed to the Police Department and asked to speak with officers. The incident made them realize the church was out of Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. They hoped officers could point them to where they could replenish their supply.
Spotting a black truck in a parking lot that looked like a vehicle stolen from her brother, a sister alerted the authorities. The giveaway, she said, was the bullet where the antenna should be. Officers checked the vehicle and determined it was not stolen.
