Authorities have arrested a Kalispell boy in connection with threats made against Flathead High School.

The Kalispell Police Department launched an investigation over the weekend after the threats surfaced. Officers worked closely with Kalispell Public Schools and the Flathead County Sheriff's Office to identify a suspect, authorities said.

During the investigation, law enforcement identified additional criminal activity and collected evidence to charge the youth with separate crimes, according to a press release issued by the Police Department on Sunday. The investigation into the threats remains ongoing.

Due to the boy's age, the police did not release any more identifying information in the press release.

“The safety of our community’s children is the Kalispell Police Department’s No. 1 priority. We take all threats against our schools seriously and will continue to respond swiftly and thoroughly to any actions that place our students, schools, or community at risk. At this time, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to Flathead High School,” Chief of Police Jordan Venezio said in a statement.
