One dead after shooting involving Flathead County Sheriff’s Office personnel

A person allegedly involved in an assault with a weapon case near Hungry Horse Reservoir's Emery Bay on Friday is dead after deputies opened fire, authorities say.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office offered few details of the incident. A statement issued by the agency late in the evening of May 29 stated only that "an officer-involved shooting occurred" and that the suspect died.  

No deputies were injured in the incident, officials said.  

The Sheriff's Office tapped the Kalispell Police Department to independently investigate the shooting. 

Officials said no further information about the incident was available.
