Authorities identified Kalispell resident Kenneth Ardagna as the person killed in a deputy-involved shooting at Emery Bay Campground near Hungry Horse Reservoir last Friday.

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon at the campground around 7:30 p.m. on May 29, prior to the shooting, according to a statement from Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio, whose department was tapped to independently investigate the shooting.

Ardagna, 57, died of injuries sustained during the shooting, according to Venezio.

No deputies were injured in the incident, officials said.

The Kalispell Police Department is in the preliminary stages of its investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, according to Venezio.
