Bigfork Summer Playhouse hits stage with double dose of spectacular theater
The Bigfork Summer Playhouse season leaps into action with the high-energy Disney classic "Newsies" on Saturday, June 6, followed closely by the hilariously spooky comedy Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" on Wednesday, June 10.
Both performances begin at 8 p.m.
Stop the presses! Based on the true story of the 1899 newsboys strike, "Newsies" is a powerful, high-octane musical packed with non-stop choreography and anthems you will be humming all the way home. Follow Jack Kelly and his ragtag team of newsies as they stand up against the titans of publishing. It is a triumphant, feel-good story about fighting for what is right, perfect for the entire family.
If you are looking for monstrous laughs, Mel Brooks’ "Young Frankenstein" is a monstrously funny choice. This cheeky adaptation of the classic horror film follows Frederick Frankenstein as he inherits his grandfather's infamous Transylvanian castle — and inherits a bit of the mad scientist spirit, too. Complete with tapping monsters, brilliant wit, and eccentric characters, this show is a hilarious night out for older kids and adults.
For over six decades, the Bigfork Summer Playhouse has been a cultural cornerstone of Northwest Montana, bringing top-tier collegiate and professional talent from across the country to the shores of Flathead Lake.
