Emerson leads Mission Valley over A Lakers
Holden Emerson doubled and drove in three runs as Mission Valley defeated the Kalispell A Lakers 9-2 in the first game of a Legion baseball doubleheader at Archie Roe Field Thursday evening.
Emerson finished 3-for-4 on the day, Cole Wadsworth and Paxson DuMont were the only other Mariners with hits.
Tied at one in the second, Emerson laced a double to left field that cleared the bases and set Mission in front for good, 4-1.
Brayson DuMont added another run in the sixth on a squeeze bunt sending in Noah Agliano.
Madden Carrier and Jacobe Sullenger picked up the lone hits for the Lakers.
Blake Paulson had both RBIs for Kalispell, the first on a sacrifice fly in the opening frame. The second coming on an error in the fifth.
Wyatt Sharp tossed 6 1-3 innings for the Lakers, striking out five and walking one.
Mission Valley got four innings from Jake Helser, who allowed one run on two hits. He fanned two. Wadsworth struck out five over three innings of no-hit work.
In game two, Liam Jackson and Justin Brown delivered a one-hit 10-0 victory for the Mariners.
Emerson again doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Cody Haggard went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Cameron Sharp picked up the lone hit for the A Lakers.
Kalispell heads on the road for a Sunday doubleheader with the Missoula A Mavericks starting at 1 p.m.
