Law roundup: ER deceived by spoof call
The emergency room reportedly prepped its medical team and moved patients, readying to receive a patient in serious condition after receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be a deputy, stating CPR was in progress on a 2-year-old without a pulse and that they were going to arrive shortly after an ambulance was refused.
The employee who allegedly answered the call didn’t get the deputy's name or badge number, and local law enforcement was called to check where the call originated. After checking with Lincoln and Sanders counties, Kalispell Police Department officers determined the call was made from an “obvious spoof number.” The staff member who called the police said that while it was unfortunate, she was relieved officers hadn’t heard anything like the situation described.
A man called the police, wondering what the easiest way to contact the White House would be, claiming he was a cop and that law enforcement was “irrelevant right now.” He wanted an officer to call him back with advice, but he declined to give his name and hung up.
A man provided the police with the serial number of his $13,000 watch, which allegedly was stolen in April.
Police received a later call from a store manager alleging a watch was stolen from a display and they had security footage.
A parks and rec employee called police for assistance in moving along a homeless person allegedly sleeping by a door, that is, unless he was the same man caught urinating on the property recently, then they wanted him cited for trespassing. The man was advised that he couldn’t be on park property for 24 hours for violating park rules.
A man in a black Dodge flatbed truck reportedly pointed a camo-colored pistol at someone in a fit of road rage after they told him to slow down and then took off. The man, who was in his late 20s, was allegedly wearing glasses and had short curly brown hair. Officers detained a man and found no records during a gun check on his Hi-Point 9 mm. The victim didn't want to pursue anything further.
A man allegedly went to his ex’s house and threatened to break her window with a piece of wood. After he gained entry, he reportedly threw her computer around and argued before going upstairs while she separated from him in the basement.
