Law roundup: Teens make a splash with a motorist
A group of joyriding teens took the fun a little too far when they pelted a motorist's truck with an item containing some kind of liquid while driving along U.S. 93. The owner of the truck told the Kalispell Police Department that his vehicle escaped without damage, but expressed concern about young people driving recklessly through the city. He handed over what he thought was the license plate number, but it only led investigators to a Bozeman resident who hadn't driven in the Kalispell area for a long time. Officers warned the person behind the wheel of a Jeep for speeding.
Concerned about his brother's whereabouts, a man called the police saying his sibling disappeared after going to the gym yesterday. While not yet ready to file a missing persons report, the man asked that officers remain on the lookout for his brother. The missing man turned up the following day. He had gone to a festival in Idaho and was safe and sound. The concerns about his safety apparently stemmed from miscommunication.
A passerby worried about a person hanging out near a highway.
Observing a company parking lot in Kalispell remotely from corporate headquarters in Wisconsin, an employee phoned the police concerned about a couple of people in a parked vehicle. They said it appeared as though the driver was shirtless and slumped over while the other individual gave them a massage. The employee hoped officers could swing by, make sure the people were OK and remind them they could not park there overnight.
Officers shepherded along people in a green Dodge Dakota pickup truck.
Annoyed with the noise generated by two barking dogs in an apartment in recent weeks, a neighbor asked the Police Department to intervene. Officers could hear two distinct dogs barking loudly from inside and also from a balcony, but no one came to the door when they knocked. The person who called the dogs in agreed to contact a property manager the following day.
Officers agreed to mount extra patrols around a property after security cameras caught two groups of males traipsing around the building. Footage showed one of the groups spray-painting the structure.
