Andrew Sliter recognized by Scouting America
Flathead Valley businessman Andrew Sliter was recently presented Scouting America’s prestigious North Star award in recognition of his longstanding service to community and support to Scouting in Montana.
The award was presented by the Montana Council on behalf of the National Court of Honor. Since the award’s establishment in 2011, only a select few Montanans have received the honor.
The Sliter family’s legacy of community service in the Flathead Valley spans more than 120 years, dating back to their arrival in Bigfork. In the spirit of Andrew Sliter's grandparents, Everit and Grata, and his father, Tom, and many siblings, the Sliters continue the family tradition of business leadership, philanthropy and community involvement. Andrew Sliter has served on many boards and councils while supporting nonprofit sponsorships.
Together with his service to community, Andrew Sliter partners with the Montana Council to sponsor the annual Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards program. The program recognizes organizations that promote youth programs, safety and law enforcement.
Past award recipients in the Flathead community include Mountain Valley Foods, NW Montana United Way, Flathead Valley Community College, Glacier Bank, ALERT, Creston, Ferndale, Bigfork, and Lakeside-Somers Volunteer Fire Departments, Bigfork, Lakeside Quick Response Units, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Flathead Electric Coop-Roundup for Safety, Flathead Land Trust, Flathead County Sheriff’s Department, and Flathead 4H.
Andrew Sliter’s support of Scouting furthers its aims of character and leadership development, citizenship and physical fitness for youth across the state. The Montana Council saluted Andrew Sliter and the entire Sliter family for their enduring commitment to community and Scouting.
The mission of the Montana Council is to help young people make ethical and moral decisions over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
