Robert Shirtliff, 92
Robert "Bob" Shirtliff, 92, passed away May 14, 2026, surrounded by loved ones after a brief hospital stay. Bob will be remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, brother, and friend.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1934, in Plentywood, Montana to Florence and Herbert Shirtliff. As a young child, his family moved to Somers where he was raised in a loving home with many siblings. His first job was riding his bike on the hilly streets of Somers, delivering the newspaper.
He was a proud army veteran, having been awarded two Purple Hearts from his service in the Korean War. When he returned from the war, he married the great love of his life, Helen, in 1957. They shared a long, loving, happy marriage until his dear Helen passed in 2022. Bob was a hard worker and retired from the Aluminum Plant.
Bob and Helen were the proud parents of two sons, Rob and Bryan. When the boys were young, Bob was an active and involved father, even coaching the boys in peewee baseball. Bob loved the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time with his family at both Ashley and Echo Lakes. He was an avid golfer and loved hitting the links in his younger days. Bob will be remembered for his hearty laugh and big smile, both of which could light up a room, and for how much he loved and valued his family.
Bob is survived by his sons, Rob (Tammy) and Bryan (Eve), his sister, Darlene, his brother, Ron, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 22 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with burial to follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
