Law roundup: Resident doesn’t beat around the bush
A man allegedly tried to hide in the bushes on Somers Avenue and Railway Street but was spotted by a resident who noticed the rustling branches. They told him he was on private property and should move along, then called the Whitefish Police Department when he didn’t budge.
A woman reportedly rolled up to a Baker Avenue residence in a Lexus SUV, barging into the house, accusing the resident and their son of giving her son drugs. The resident told the Whitefish Police Department they didn’t know her name. Officers counseled her on the proper way to handle issues and she left.
A couple of children were reportedly playing with exposed wires on a damaged crosswalk sign on Baker Avenue and East Second Street.
Police were requested at the train depot to assist with the arrival of a sloshed passenger who reportedly slipped and fell, hitting his head. Staff reportedly said he was becoming hostile because the train wasn’t pulling over.
Officers allegedly watched a teen driver go from a stop to 50 mph in a 25-mph zone, in the presence of multiple pedestrians, on Skyles Place and Wisconsin Avenue. Officers gave the teen a warning for reckless driving and spoke to their parents.
A bearded man in a van with Utah license plates reportedly didn’t like where a S.N.O.W bus driver parked and expressed his hostility. Officers told the driver to remain in the bus until they arrived to counsel the incensed man on his behavior.
After trying to deter loose dogs from chasing people for the third time, a resident called the police. An officer located one dog walking on Kalispell Avenue, unsupervised, and handed a copy of the city ordinance to a man, telling him that the next time he would get a ticket.
A property manager wanted police to record his findings of shoe prints on a building door leading out to an alley that looked like someone had kicked it.
