Whitefish Bulldogs start strong at State A tennis
HARDIN — Both Whitefish tennis squads started the State A tournament strong Thursday as five of the 16 spots in Friday’s semifinals are occupied by Bulldogs.
On the boys side Jack Oehlerich grabbed a pair of straight sets wins to set up a semifinal matchup with Dillon’s Jack Robertson. Owen Erickson and Eli Erickson are also still alive on the consolation side of the bracket.
In boys doubles the duo of Aaron Anderson and Marcus Mercer also took two wins and will face Max Spangler and Carter Chagnon of Havre in the semis.
Polson’s Teague McElwee and Marcus Lucas are also semifinal-bound; they will battle William Noteboom and Adrian Tagnahan of host Hardin.
In girls action, Bulldogs Liesl Brust and Emy Hansen bot secured semifinal spots. Brust faces Ciara Hanley of Hamilton, while Hansen takes on Miles City’s Ramsey Pryor.
Whitefish’s Camry Kelch and Allie Shors had a pair of straight sets wins to secure their spot in the girls doubles semifinals. Lucy Marzo and Aubrey Talbot are still in the championship bracket, but their second round match was not finished Thursday.
Action continues Friday with championship matches slated for Saturday.
