Cian Arthur Groats, 14
Cian Arthur Groats, 14, passed away on May 10, 2026, in his hometown of Kalispell. He was born on Nov 27, 2011, in Kalispell, where he spent his entire life surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and the love of his family and friends.
He was a bright, curious, and deeply compassionate young man whose love for learning and creativity touched everyone who knew him. He had a special fascination with marine life, especially sea turtles, and dreamed of one day becoming a marine biologist. He also hoped to learn to fly planes and often spoke of moving to Oregon, where he could be closer to the ocean while still enjoying scenery that reminded him of the Montana landscapes he loved so much.
Cian found joy in science of all kinds and expressed himself through painting and drawing. He loved animals deeply and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. You never found Cian far from his beloved puppies. Whether sharing coffee conversations with loved ones, creating art, or talking excitedly about the ocean and wildlife, Cian brought warmth, imagination and kindness into the lives of those around him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laramie Ann Hubble; his paternal grandfather, John “Jack” Groats; his maternal grandfather, Robert “Bob” Hubble; and his maternal great-grandmother, Bonnie Sorenson.
Cian is survived by his loving father, Jason Arthur Groats; his paternal grandmother, Rebecca Ann (Allyn) Griffin; his maternal grandmother, Vickie Hubble-Adkins; as well as many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though his time here was far too short, Cian’s gentle spirit, bright mind, and loving heart will never be forgotten. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
