Joseph Paul "Joe" Holzapfel, 44

Joseph Paul "Joe" Holzapfel, 44, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, as the result of an accidental self-inflicted gun shot wound.

Joe was born on July 25, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Norbert and Maryann Stugan Holzapfel.

He married Loreli Petro on Sept. 8, 1984, in Reseda, Calif. They moved to Las Vegas where he worked as a glazer before moving to the Flathead Valley about five years ago, where he owned his own glazing business.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy.

He loved hunting, fishing, and anything that was out of doors. He especially loved the winter and snow.

He was a member of the North American Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norbert.

He is survived by his wife, Loreli, of Kalispell; two daughters, Chrystal H. and Terra L. Holzapfel; his mother, Maryann Holzapfel, of Kalispell; one brother, Michael Holzapfel of Kalispell; an uncle, John Stugan, of Kalispell; and a niece, Mindy Holzapfel, of Kalispell.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.

Garth W. "Jake" Jacobi, 78

Garth W. "Jake" Jacobi, 78, of Whitefish, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at North Valley Hospital.

He was born Oct. 15 1926, an only child.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Chris and Lillian Jacobi, also of Whitefish.

Jake loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. After he retired in 1988 as business manager of School Dist. No. 6 in Columbia Falls, Jake set out on a mission to turn a timbered piece of land he had grown up on and carve it into a beautiful piece of heaven.

His mission was completed and it is there he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Beverly Ann, and their five children and their families. They include, Karen and her husband, Jesse, Greg and his wife, Sandy, Patti and her husband, Todd, Steve and his wife, Roxanne, and Chris and his wife, Teressa. Also loved by him was his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish.
