A Kalispell man was in court Thursday, asking for his bond to be reduced on a felony domestic abuse charge.

Instead, District Judge Ted Lympus tripled the bond for Cody Knoble to $75,000.

Prosecuting Deputy County Attorney Dan Guzynski pointed out that this is the fourth time in a year and a half that Knoble, 30, has been charged with partner assault. The cases involved three women; two of the charges were dismissed.

In this case, Knoble is accused of assaulting his former girlfriend on Nov. 5 at Rose Crossing and U.S. 2, where they met to remove her items from a storage unit.

When she entered his truck, she said, he "grabbed me by the hair and threw me out of the truck," and then struck her in the head and back. She responded by throwing a rock and hitting him.

He then pulled her on the ground outside his truck by her hair as he drove, she said. Photos show the bald spots on her head after the incident.

Knoble tried to tell the judge that was an injury that happened prior to the incident, but his lawyer, Ed Falla, stopped him.

Lympus said it is his job to protect society and tripled bail to $75,000.

Jail personnel also will write a report about a threat that Knoble allegedly uttered about the woman as he got off the witness stand Thursday.

Knoble is set for trial in February.
