The eighth annual West Shore Holidayfest is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Lakeside School gymnasium. Admission is free and live entertainment is planned.

Holidayfest today

Holidayfest features over 30 exhibitors offering unique handmade gifts of jewelry, woodwork, soaps, fine art, folk art, home decor, clothing, children's items, pottery, Christmas cards and ornaments, as well as a Kids Only Market.

Get your picture taken with Santa by a professional photographer from 10 a.m. to noon. There is no charge.

There will be three auctions, which will close at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. An hourlong live auction gets under way 1 p.m.

The kitchen will be throughout the day and a bake sale will be available.

It's a bazaar weekend

St. Peter Lutheran Church in Whitefish plays host to its annual Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Homemade crafts, baked goods, gifts and more will be sold. Proceeds will benefit hurricane victims.

The church is located at 201 Wisconsin Ave.

Trego's 11th annual Christmas Bazaar is today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Trego Civic Center.

Kindermusik today at the Kalispell library

Barb Hadley, instructor at Center Stage School of Music, presents a Kindermusik program of music for children ages 3 to 5 at 11:30 a.m. today in the Children's Department of the Flathead County Library Library in Kalispell.

Ladies brunch, silent auction today at church

North Valley Baptist Church invites you to its ladies' holiday brunch and silent auction at 1 p.m. this afternoon. Enjoy light food, craft demonstrations, music and a skit while bidding on the auction items.

Auction, dinner to benefit cancer victim

An auction and dinner to benefit Kelvin Graham of Columbia Falls will be held this afternoon at the Eagles Club, 1640 U.S. 2 W., in Columbia Falls.

Graham was diagnosed in 2001 with bone marrow cancer and is currently undergoing treatment for a stem cell transplant. Proceeds will go toward helping him with his bills.

A silent auction will be from 2-6 p.m. and the live auction gets under way at 6 p.m. Items include an electric bed, Remington and collectible Winchester rifles, a four-foot carved wood bear, log bed, handmade quilt, artwork, snowmobile rentals, lumber, gravel and much more.

Dinner will be chili, corn bread and potato salad and will be served beginning at 4 p.m. The cost is $5 per person.

Mountainaires give free concert at Borders

In a special tribute to the holiday season, the "Montanaires," a select group of singers from the Glacier Chorale, will present a free concert at 2:30 p.m. today at Borders Books in Kalispell. Tickets will also be available for sale for the Chorale's upcoming concert, "The Star of Bethlehem," with the Glacier Symphony.

Ski club's dinner tonight in Whitefish

The Glacier Nordic Ski Club will have it annual potluck dinner and Chinese auction at 6 p.m. this evening at the Rocky Mountain Lodge on U.S. 93 South in Whitefish.

The club will also be selling annual memberships which double as season ski passes on the groomed ski trails at Whitefish Golf Course. The public is welcome to attend.

All proceed from the auction go to support the grooming of the ski trails, as well as the children's cross-country ski programs.

Ski passes are also sold throughout the winter at the Outback Ski Shack at the golf course trailhead.

Bigfork holiday parade tonight at 6 p.m.

Bigfork's annual Magical Holiday Parade begins at 6 p.m. tonight. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered from 4 to 7 pm. at Bigfork Station.

Big Mountain to open more skiing terrain

Big Mountain Resort plans to open additional terrain today, including the Tenderfoot Lift (Chair 3) and the Glacier View lift (Chair 5).

Chairlifts scheduled for operation also include the Glacier Chaser (Chair 1), Big Creek Express (Chair 7), the free Village Lift (Chair 6), as well as the Big Foot T-bar. Chair 5 and the T-bar will operate on the weekend only.

There will be 30 marked runs open for skiing and snowboarding, including the beginner-rated Hope Slope. Upper sections of the mountain that are open include the East Rim, North Bowl and Big Face/Ptarmigan Bowl, as well as the entire north side.

Big Mountain's Nordic trails have been packed, but no track has been laid. Fees for use of the Nordic Center will go into effect once the track is set.

The free S.N.O.W. Bus operates daily and Big Mountain is offering $25 lift tickets through Dec. 19.
